Hello world.....

Hi all,

I am setting up this blog to detail our search for the best lunch during the workweek. I and several of my friends work for one of many aerospace companies surrounding LAX and the Los Angeles Airforce Base in El Segundo, CA. My good friend and I got tired of going to the same places for lunch, so we instituted a simple rule: the first time we go to lunch during the week it has to be a place we haven't been to before. My wife suggested we blog about it and this is the result. We plan to use this blog to document our search. If we help others decide where to go to lunch all the better. Thanks for reading!

Definitions...

Rating: The overall rating of a restaurant is out of 5 stars and is a subjective assessment of total quality and value received. As a general rule of thumb, 5 stars = Continually find yourself going back to the restaurant again and again, 4 stars = Will readily visit the restaurant again, 3 stars = Apathetic about visiting the restaurant in the future, 2 stars = Would not return to the restaurant unless someone was adamant about going, 1 star = Never willing to return and actively encourage people, without prompting, to never visit the restaurant, 0 stars = Egregious, possibly illegal, activity was witnessed during visit. Since we are engineers we do not limit ourselves to whole star ratings. Fractional or decimal ratings are given when warranted.

Typical cost for lunch: With the lunch focus, restaurants will be categorized into one of three value bins: Cheap ($ for a typical lunch $6 or less), Regular ($$ for a typical lunch $6-10), or Expensive ($$$ for a typical lunch greater than $10). The cost is just for the food. Drinks, tax and tip are usually excluded.
